Watch Kurt Russell’s career-defining performance as Elvis in this television movie from 1979 - now restored from the original film elements!
Just two years after Elvis Presley died, Kurt Russell brought him back to life in the original biopic about the King of Rock 'n' Roll. Director John Carpenter traces Presley's life from his impoverished childhood to his meteoric rise to stardom to his triumphant conquering of Las Vegas. Shelley Winters co-stars as Gladys Presley, with Season Hubley as Priscilla, Bing Russell (Kurt's real-life father) as Vernon, Pat Hingle as Colonel Tom Parker, Joe Mantegna as "Memphis Mafia" member Joe Esposito, and Ed Begley Jr. as drummer D.J. Fontana. Broadcast on ABC in 1979, this work garnered numerous Emmy nominations (including Outstanding Lead Actor for Russell).
