Brian DePalma's bizarre blend of rock music, "Faust," and "The Phantom of the Opera," ignored when first released, is now a cult favorite. Songwriter Winslow Leach (William Finley) has his work stolen by mysterious music mogul Swan (Paul Williams) and winds up hideously scarred. Hiding himself in Swan's new concert hall, a rock-and-roll palace called The Paradise, Leach seeks revenge as he tries to help would-be singer Phoenix (Jessica Harper). Gerrit Graham co-stars as glam rock sensation Beef. Eerily prescient in its depiction of yet-to-exist musical genres, this stunningly original and darkly comic rock nightmare features voice over narration by Rod Serling, and memorable original songs by the multi-talented Williams.
