This hilarious comedy stars James Garner, Dick Van Dyke, Elke Sommer, Angie Dickinson, Ethel Merman, and Carl Reiner. Having failed to establish himself as a painter in Paris, Paul Sloane (Van Dyke) decides to return home to his wealthy girlfriend, Laurie Gibson (Dickinson). His roommate, Casey Barnett (Garner), argues that Paul should fake his own suicide, which will make his paintings much more popular. With Paul presumed dead, demand for his work soars. Casey grows wealthy selling off the art and begins courting Laurie…causing an angry Paul to frame his deceitful friend for his murder. This film was directed by the legendary Norman Jewison (In the Heat of the Night, Moonstruck), and was beautifully shot in Technicolor by the great Russell Metty (Spartacus, Touch of Evil).
